Trace Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization supporting Tibetan language and culture, while strengthening the ability of Tibetan communities to meet their own needs. In the years after the establishment of the Foundation, E. Gene Smith worked with Trace to establish Himalayan and Inner Asian Resources (HIAR), which later became Trace Foundation's Latse Library.
